Why Freedom Brew?  Why does this matter so much to us?  Here’s why as told by our founder:

It starts with my family, but it actually goes far beyond.

Both of my grandfathers served in the US Army.  One of them escaped a communist country when he was 16, hiked across Europe, boarded a boat in France, came to the US, enlisted in the US Army, and fought for the US in WW1.  This is how he became a citizen.  Both of my grandfather’s fought for the US in WW1.  4 of my uncles served with 3 being in the Army and 1 being a Marine.  3 of them fought in WW2 and 1 fought in Korea.  My father served between Korea and Vietnam, I served in the Army, and my father-in-law served in the Air Force too.

With all of that said, it’s not actually about me or my family…it’s about the good that Freedom Brew can do.  So many veterans and military personnel have done so much yet they suffer for it.  We’ve all seen the struggles, the tragedies.  One guy I know did 4 tours in the middle east.  When he came home, he had so much mental trauma that he couldn’t live with his family.  The demons of what he saw, and what he did, haunt him to this day.  Fortunately, he found help…but he still struggles.  This is just one example.  So many don’t find the help they need.  Then, there are the guys and girls that never came back or lost their lives…and their families have to carry on without them.  It’s all tragic.  There are just so many that did so much, I figured we should help…and what better way to help than great beer.  This is the inspiration behind Freedom Brew, making a great beer that does great things.  #BeerForGood
